˜ The Saga Begins

--First off I want to say is that it is nearly impossible to go by the Dragon Warrior Adventure Guide. Especially when you are a beginner at the game. It seems to me that they leave out the fact that you need to buy items as well as the weapons and armor that they expect you to have at a certian level.

--As always SAVE your game frequently. You never know what might happen.

----Tantegel Castle ----

--When you start out you're talking to the king and he will informyou of why you are here. The King is also the one who will save your game and rivive you when you have died in battle. The cost of revival is half your gold!! After he gets done talking to you go open TAKE all of the treasure chest and TALK to the guards, they will also give information as will everyone else. To open the door use the DOOR command (this is the only door you can do this on). Use the STAIRS command to go down the stairs. While on the first floor go talk to everyone. After doing so, it is now time to go to Brecconary.

----Brecconary ----

--When you start out, go to Brecconary and purchase the Club and Clothes. Again TALK to everyone you came in contact with. Fight around the area and to save gold go to the old man in Tantegel Castle. He will heal both MP and HP. After you have recovered go and fight some more.

--After level 4 you can start to fight Magicans, Drakees, and Ghosts with very little complications. From these is where you start the road to better battle skills.

----Erdrick's Cave ----

--When you head for Erdrick's Cave be sure to purchase at least 2 Torches and 4 Herbs. There are no monsters in this cave. However be sure to have a full life for the trip to the cave.

----Cave Lv. 1----

--Upon entering the cave light a torch. From the enterance head south until you come to a wall. From there go west, south, then east until you come to an opening in the southern wall. Go south through the opening, you'll come to a wall, head east until you come to another wall. Go south, then east, then north, back east, and south again. Use the STAIRS command to go to the second basement level.

----Cave Lv. 2----

--On the second level is the reason for entering this cave. From the stairs go north to the wall, go west until the opening south, go south to the wall, then go west; north; west; north until the opening to the west, go west to the wall, head north, back east to the wall, north again, west, north, then east to the opening heading south, go south to the wall, finally east to the treasure chest. TAKE the treasure, "Erdrick's Tablet". You really don't have to read it to understand anything.

--To exit follow the path in reverse.

----Garinham ----

--After the cave, gain levels up to 7 to be safe. By now you should be ready to head for Garinham. While there purchase the Copper Sword and the Leather Armor. While in the area be sure to gain more levels as well as gold.

-- Garinham is also the location for the "Grave of Garinham". The Grave holds within it's depths the "Silver Harp".

----Kol ----

--In the land around the town of Kol you will find Scorpions. With only 20HP these will be a snap. Skeletons, on the other hand, are a little bit stronger with 30HP. Magidrakees are a bit of a challenge with their Hurt spell. All of these are great for gaining levels.

--In the town of Kol you will find a spring. Go south 4 steps and use the SEARCH command and there you will find the "Fairy Flute". This is used to put the Golem asleep. While in Kol, buy the Half Plate armor and the Leather Shield.

----Northern Cave ----

--Your next journey is to the Northern Cave. The cave is located on the peninsula NW of Kol. Here the wise man has the "Staff of Rain". This is used later on in your quest. He will give it to you after you have obtained the Silver Harp.

--The search for the "Silver Harp" leads you to the Grave of Garinham located in the town of Garinham. Do NOT attempt the cave yet!!

----Mountain Cave ----

--Instead of the Grave of Garinham, head south go over the bridge. Keep on southand go around the mountains and there you will see an enterance to the cave.

----Cave Lv. 1----

--Inside the cave work you way nourth through the winding path, but don't take the first flight of stairs. Instead go west until an opening, go through the opening or you could keep going west and get some herbs. Follow the path through the opening to the stairs.

----Cave Lv. 2----

--You start out in the middle of the room. From there go east and work your way to the nrthwest corner. Among these chest is the "Fighter's Ring". there is also a couple of chests containing gold.

--To exit follow the path in reverse.

----Rimuldar ----

--Next is to head for the Island of Rimuldar through the Swamp Cave. The cave is pretty straight forward. Once you enter head south until you bump the wall(you will hear a noise). Then go east until you hit the wall. Then south, east, south and finally west to the exit.

--In Rimular is is good to purchase some keys(53G). While on the island it is best to gain levels. The monsters you meet here include Metal Scropions, Skeletons, Warlocks, Wolves, Gold Men, Wraiths, Wolflords, and Wyverns. Also be sure to be on level 13 when fighting around.

*HINT* USE STOPSPELL ON THE WARLOCK BEFORE THEY CAST SLEEP.

*HINT* GOLD MEN MAY BE STRONG BUT USING HURT ON THEM MAKES YOU THE STRONGER FOE. GOLD MEN HAVE 200G A PIECE!!

--The Southern Cave is where the "Wild Goose Chase" begins. The wise man wants you to prove your heritage by bringing him "Erdrick's Token". DON'T go to get the token yet, instead wait until you have "Erdrick's Armor".

----Grave of Garinham ----

--The Grave Of Garinham is located behind the locked door in the town. Inside head toward the back wall, walk left until you are 3 paces from the left wall. Head north and there will be a hidden opening. From there walk to the right and go down the stairs.

----Cave Lv. 1----

--In the cave work your way to the SE corner. You'll need to first go east then north to the four-way. From there east to another four-way. Go south to th second opening(right side). Through there you will find a door. Through the door head east to the stairs which lead to B-2. There are also some treasure chests in the NE corner.

----Cave Lv. 2----

--On B-2 head for the stairs in the lower SW corner.

----Cave Lv. 3----

--On floor B-3 take the only path availble and head north, take the stairs.

----Cave Lv. 4----

--Take the other flight of stairs on B-4. Atop those stairs is where you will find the "Silver Harp". Enemies in here are some of the strongest in the game thus far, so be sure to have high levels and plenty of herbs.

--To find the "Cursed Belt" take the lower SE stairs on B-2 which lead to B-3. From there work your way toward the west wall. Walk along the narrow path until you find a treasure chest and there you will find the belt.

-- To exit the cave follow the path in reverse.

--Take the "Silver Harp" to the man in the Northern Cave and he will give you the "Staff Of Rain". After you have obtained the "Staff Of Rain" head back to Tangetel Castle and unlock the door in the NE corner of the castle. From there head out past the key shop and down along side the wall. There you will find stairs heading down that lead to an underground cave. In the cave you will meet a wise man and behind him is the "Stones Of Sunlight". Both of these items are needed in order for the "Rainbow Drop" can be made.

----Resue the Princess ----

--Now it is time to rescue Princess Gwaelin. She is locked behind a door that is guarded by two Dragons. Both dragons are in seperate battles, yet they both have 65HP a piece. So it might be wise to have one key, several herbs and a lot of courage.

--When I get the Broad sword with the Magic Armor (Rimuldar) and I'm at level 15, just to be safe, is when I go to fight the two dragons that are in the Swamp Cave.

--After you rescue the princess she rewards you with a magical item, "Gwaelin's Love". This item tells you your location from the castle. Hmmm....

----Cantlin ----

--Next is Cantlin. Here is where you will find the best weapons and armor in the game. Before you enter the town be sure you have enough herbs as well as being on level 20. Now, as you get ready to go beyond the wall surrounding the town you will go into battle with the Golem. Remember the Fairy Flute. Play the flute once the battle begins it should put the beast to sleep. After it is asleep attack with all you got.

*HINT* BE SURE TO USE THE FLUTE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE BECAUSE HE MIGHT AWAKEN.

--After the battle you are free to enter the town and not have to worry about fighting the Golem again.

--While in town remember to purchase some things, like herbs, fresh armor and weapons. Right now is a good time to gain levels and gold. The reason, is that the armor that you need is the "Silver Shield" which is a whopping 14,800G!! The "Flame Sword" is a great item to have until you find "Erdrick's Sword".

----Hauksness ----

--Hauksness is your next destination. There you will meet the highest class of enemies in the game, so be prepared. "Erdrick's Armor" is found behind a shop that is on the east side of town. Before you get to search you will fight an Axe Knight. First use Stopspell to prevent him from casting Sleep. Then just hit it with all you got. Later in the game this is a good place to gain gold as well as experience.

----Erdrick's Token ----

--With Erdrick's Armor equiped, go to the large swamp south of Cantlin. Using "Gwaenlin's Love" search for "Erdrick's Token". The token is located 70 south and 40 east. The exact location of the token is in the second large area from the western entrance, about 7 steps from the eastern shore and 5 steps from the southern shore.

----Get the Rainbow Drop ----

--After obtaining the token head back to the southern cave which is all the way on the other side of the world ("Goose Chase"). When you give the old man the token he will reward you with the "Rainbow Drop". You should also have the "Staff of Rain" and the "Stones of Sunlight" in order to get it though.

--Now that you have the "Rainbow Drop" head over to the landing NW of Rimuldar, use the drop. In doing so a magical bidge appears thus allowing you to head toward the castle of the "Dragonlord".

--Now is a great time to gain levels especially if you are not confident in youself. Just to be safe I recommend being on level 25 before entering the castle. Also be sure to have purchased the "Silver Shield" along with having the "Flame Sword" and "Erdrick's Armor".

----Dragonlord's Castle ----

--Once you are at level 25 enter the castle. Be sure that you have plenty of herbs and are full in MP. Once inside cast the Radiant spell to light up the place. Then head left and go up and around to where you come to a fork in the passage. Take a right and continue heading south. When you get to the wall head north through the barriersand on around the throne. Search behind the thron and there you will find the hidden staircase that leads to the basement.

----Basement Lv. 1----

--This level of the castle is pretty much self explainitory. There is only one path to follow to get to the next level.

----Basement Lv. 2----

--Again only one path to follow. But the main question is "What is in the treasure chest in the middle of the room?"

----Basement Lv. 3----

--When you come down the stairs go west, but don't go up the first flight of stairs you see. Instead go north then continue west and follow that path to the stairs that lead to the next level.

----Basement Lv. 4----

--On this level there is three other flights of stairs not including the ones you just came down. Make your way to the northeast corner until you come to the three sets of stairs take the one to the left. These lead you to the last and final level of the castle.

----Basement Lv. 5----

--Follow the one and only path.

----Basement Lv. 6----

--Again only one path.

----Basement Lv. 7----

--This is the last level of the castle, if you notice you don't need the RADIANT spell any more. There is a room full of treasure to the upper right behind a locked door (did I mention you might need a KEY). To the left is the path that will lead you to your final battle. One of these chests contains the "Sword of Erdrick", the best sword in the game.

--While fighting the Dragon Lord be sure to maintain high HP and don't waste magic on attack spells. After you defeat the Dragon Lord it is far from over. The next battle is against his pet dragon. Again maintain high HP and only use magic for healing purposes.

May luck be with you.

Here are some tips that might futher help you in your quest in defeating the Dragon Lord.

The best place to gain levels when you are of strength is in the town of Hauksness fighting the Axe Knight that guarded Erdricks Armor.

Remember the most frequently visited caves (Swamp Cave). This will save time and gold and/or MP.

Later in the game always have at least two keys. You never know when you might need them.

It may take time but walk back to the castle when you want to save. This may take time, but time flys when you are gaining levels. It also saves gold and/or MP.

You can never stress this enough, KEEP HP HIGH!
